Inshun (胤舜, Inshun) is the 71st chapter of the Vagabond manga series.

Summary

The chapter begins in medias res with Musashi breathing heavily while Inshun lays face first on the forest floor with a spear in his hand.

Inshun's spirit floats above his body in a fighting stance with a spear in hand, ready to fight Musashi once more. However, Agon yells out for Inshun which distract him. As Inshun looks at Agon, he is able to see Agon's memories which show Agon speaking highly of Inshun's skills but stating that although the monks admired him, he was unapproachable. Agon and many monks began to fear Inshun as he became stronger which only resulted in monks distancing themselves even further from Inshun. Agon's point of view ends with a tear streaming down his face and him stating that even now, he deeply admires Inshun and wants to be his friend.

Inei looks at Inshun's body with deep sadness while attempting to comfort Agon. As Insun observes Inei, he begins to see Inei's memories of the two together when he was a child. As memories of Inei and Inshun are shown, Inshun asks Inei about his name with Inei replying that he used characters of his own name to create his name. Inshun has no recollection of memories prior to him becoming a monk at Hozoin temple and asks Inei what his name was before he was known as Inshun and what was his life like before the temple. As Inshun attempts to recall, he becomes shocked as he remembers two men bloody and dead in the dirt along with a dead naked women with a young Inshun being hugged by Inei. Inei cries out 'Shinnosuke!' implying that Inshun's name was Shinnosuke.
